Il \u00e9tait un peu plus de 14h ce dimanche-l\u00e0, au zoo de Vincennes.
Des centaines de visiteurs profitaient du beau temps pour fl\u00e2ner dans les all\u00e9es. Les cris des enfants, les rires, les vendeurs de glaces\u2026 Une ambiance paisible, presque trop tranquille.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Jusqu\u2019\u00e0 ce que le cri strident<\/strong> d\u2019une m\u00e8re perce l\u2019apr\u00e8s-midi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

\u2014 \u00ab MON B\u00c9B\u00c9 ! \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

En quelques secondes, la foule s\u2019agglutina autour de l\u2019enclos des gorilles.
Un petit gar\u00e7on, \u00e2g\u00e9 d\u2019\u00e0 peine deux ans, gisait au sol\u2026 de l\u2019autre c\u00f4t\u00e9 de la barri\u00e8re<\/strong>.
Personne ne savait comment il avait bascul\u00e9. Une seconde d\u2019inattention, un appui mal plac\u00e9 sur la rambarde, et le voil\u00e0 tomb\u00e9 \u2014 directement dans le territoire de Boko<\/strong>, un m\u00e2le gorille adulte, \u00e2g\u00e9 de 16 ans, connu pour son temp\u00e9rament impr\u00e9visible.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le silence s\u2019installa brutalement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Boko s\u2019approcha.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Tout le monde s\u2019attendait au pire.
Certains d\u00e9tourn\u00e8rent les yeux. D’autres sortaient d\u00e9j\u00e0 leur t\u00e9l\u00e9phone, entre peur et fascination morbide.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Mais le gorille\u2026 s\u2019arr\u00eata<\/strong>.
Il s\u2019assit. Puis, lentement, tendit une main massive vers l\u2019enfant qui pleurait doucement.
Le petit ne criait pas. Il regardait l\u2019animal avec de grands yeux ronds, comme fig\u00e9. Et Boko, avec une lenteur presque humaine, le prit dans ses bras<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Les gardiens, paralys\u00e9s, ne savaient que faire.
Les v\u00e9t\u00e9rinaires ne pouvaient pas tirer de fl\u00e9chette tranquillisante : le moindre stress pouvait d\u00e9clencher une r\u00e9action violente.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

C\u2019est alors qu\u2019un homme entra dans l’enclos.
Un jeune policier<\/strong>, en uniforme, qui n\u2019\u00e9tait m\u00eame pas de garde au zoo. Il s\u2019appelait Capitaine Lionel Meunier<\/strong>, en civil ce jour-l\u00e0, mais t\u00e9moin direct de la sc\u00e8ne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Malgr\u00e9 les hurlements des coll\u00e8gues et du personnel, il passa la barri\u00e8re.
Sans arme. Sans plan. Sans peur.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Il s\u2019approcha lentement. Tr\u00e8s lentement.
Ses mains visibles. Son regard doux.
Il parla doucement, comme on parle \u00e0 un enfant.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Et puis\u2026 il s\u2019agenouilla devant Boko<\/strong>.
Et dit, d\u2019une voix ferme :
\u2014 \u00ab Tu veux prot\u00e9ger ce petit ? Alors prot\u00e8ge-le. Je ne suis pas ici pour le prendre. Je suis l\u00e0 pour t\u2019aider. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Un murmure parcourut la foule.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Le gorille, comme s\u2019il comprenait<\/strong>, serra l\u2019enfant contre lui\u2026 puis, apr\u00e8s quelques secondes d\u2019\u00e9ternit\u00e9, le tendit au policier<\/strong>. Doucement. D\u00e9licatement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

Personne ne bougea.
Pas un souffle. Pas un bruit.<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n

Quand Lionel prit l\u2019enfant dans ses bras, Boko poussa un g\u00e9missement grave. Comme un soupir.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
