At home, I sliced a few pieces, ate them, put the rest in the fridge. Everything seemed completely ordinary.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
This morning I pulled out the same sausage to make breakfast. I picked up the knife \u2014 then paused. The blade wasn\u2019t gliding; it felt like it was hitting something solid. I assumed the sausage might have frozen a bit. But when I cut another slice, the knife stopped abruptly again. I looked closer \u2014 and my stomach dropped: something shiny was embedded deep inside.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
At first, I thought it was a piece of metal. I dug it out carefully \u2014 and pulled free\u2026 a USB flash drive. A normal little thumb drive. I felt instant revulsion \u2014 I had already eaten this product. How could a flash drive end up inside a factory-sealed sausage?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<\/figure>\n\n\n\n
Disgust gave way to curiosity. I turned on my computer, inserted the drive \u2014 and stared at the screen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There were no normal files. Just a single folder with a chilling name: \u201cDO NOT OPEN.\u201d<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Some part of me almost laughed \u2014 as if the situation wasn\u2019t already absurd enough. Meat product with digital media inside? And now psychological horror folder naming? But there was a small voice inside whispering that maybe opening it was a bad idea.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Except\u2026 of course I did.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Inside were dozens of video clips. Plain filenames like: \u201ccam_A,\u201d \u201cfloor3,\u201d \u201ctest_B.\u201d I clicked the first one.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The video showed a dim production room with a cold bluish cast. A factory floor. The camera panned shakily across a conveyor belt of raw sausage casings. Workers in white coats stood on both sides, processing the meat.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then one worker suddenly leaned in, glanced nervously around, and slipped a tiny object into one of the casings \u2014 about the same size as the drive sitting on my desk. His movements were tense, guilty. He seemed terrified of being caught.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The video cut to black.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I opened the next one: a middle-aged man in the same uniform, filmed in close-up. He whispered into the camera urgently: \u2014 If you\u2019re watching this\u2026 it means they haven\u2019t stopped. You have to speak up\u2026 before it goes further\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
His expression was raw panic. Then he added a line that tightened ice around my spine: \u2014 This product\u2026 it\u2019s not what you think. It\u2026 changes people. Notice those who eat it often. The changes begin subtly\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The rest of his words dissolved in static.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I sat there for a moment, numb. I wanted to dismiss all of it \u2014 surely this is a bizarre prank, or some experimental documentary stunt. But I couldn\u2019t ignore one fact:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
the USB had been inside the food I ate.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
That wiped out the \u201crandom internet weirdness\u201d explanation. Whatever this was\u2026 it had crossed into my home.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The following clips showed warehouse shelves, containers, documents stamped and signed, masked personnel sealing boxes with dark urgency.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And then the same man again \u2014 looking straight into the lens with strained determination: \u2014 If you see this\u2026 don\u2019t buy anything from\u2014<\/p>\n\n\n\n
The audio cut right at the brand name. I tried reading his lips. I\u2019m almost sure he said the manufacturer on my packaging.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I pushed the USB away as if it were contaminated.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then I caught something faint in my mouth \u2014 a metallic aftertaste. At first I thought it was just nerves. But now\u2026<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I rushed to the bathroom \u2014 rinsing, spitting, brushing, swallowing water \u2014 trying to erase it. But the unease felt deeper than taste \u2014 like something intangible had already taken root.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
When I came back, I hesitated before opening the final video.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
It was short. The same man again \u2014 exhausted, resigned. He said clearly: \u2014 They\u2019re monitoring the consumers. Through the product. Through us.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Then \u2014 silence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I froze. My mind spun:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Do I go to the authorities? Do I alert the media? Do I just pretend I never saw any of this?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
But then came the most unsettling thought:<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Was I really the one who accidentally found that drive\u2026 or was someone waiting for someone like me to find it?<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I barely slept that night. I lay awake in the dark, listening to my own heartbeat, replaying every frame of those videos.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because now, this isn\u2019t some strange curiosity. This is personal.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And the flash drive is still sitting here.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
