He froze.

Right on cue, his phone rang again \u2014 his mother.
He answered and her voice exploded through the speaker:

This time he didn\u2019t yell at me.
He just looked at me \u2014 and for the first time, I didn\u2019t see entitlement\u2026

Pure, honest fear.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Because he finally understood:
