Toujours le m\u00eame.<br>Pique-niques \u2014 sans moi.<br>Anniversaires \u2014 sans moi.<br>Voyages \u2014 sans moi.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Chaque fois, une excuse.<br>\u00ab On ne pensait pas inviter les conjoints. \u00bb<br>\u00ab On ne voulait pas te fatiguer. \u00bb<br>\u00ab C\u2019\u00e9tait juste en famille. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le mot \u00ab famille \u00bb sonnait comme une porte ferm\u00e9e.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je n\u2019ai rien dit.<br>Pas de sc\u00e8ne.<br>Pas de confrontation.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>J\u2019ai simplement observ\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Puis tout a bascul\u00e9.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00c0 la mort de ma grand-m\u00e8re, j\u2019ai h\u00e9rit\u00e9 d\u2019un fonds cons\u00e9quent. Silence.<br>Mon beau-p\u00e8re s\u2019\u00e9claircit la voix.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab La maison au lac Tahoe a besoin de travaux \u00bb, dit-il calmement.<br>Une pause.<br>\u00ab On pensait que tu pourrais aider. \u00bb<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Silence autour de la table.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Je les regarde.<br>Ces m\u00eames personnes qui ne voulaient pas de moi sur une photo.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab Aider ? \u00bb je r\u00e9p\u00e8te.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Il hoche la t\u00eate.<br>\u00ab Nous sommes une famille.
