Impossible d\u2019h\u00e9siter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>On l\u2019allonge, on le branche aux appareils. Le pouls s\u2019emballe, la tension chute. Il parle \u00e0 peine, serre son ventre et supplie qu\u2019on fasse quelque chose. Les m\u00e9decins pensent d\u2019abord \u00e0 une occlusion intestinale, peut-\u00eatre \u00e0 une h\u00e9morragie interne.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais quelque chose ne colle pas.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019\u00e9chographie r\u00e9v\u00e8le une masse \u00e9trange. Elle occupe presque toute la cavit\u00e9 abdominale. Les contours sont nets, mais l\u2019int\u00e9rieur est h\u00e9t\u00e9rog\u00e8ne. Un m\u00e9decin se fige devant l\u2019\u00e9cran, plus longtemps que d\u2019habitude. Son visage change.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u00ab On recommence \u00bb, dit-il.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Un second sp\u00e9cialiste confirme. \u00c0 l\u2019int\u00e9rieur, une structure qui ressemble \u00e0 un f\u0153tus. Mais c\u2019est un homme. Un soldat. Une absurdit\u00e9 m\u00e9dicale.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>La tension devient palpable. Un silence lourd s\u2019installe. Mais l\u2019\u00e9tat du patient se d\u00e9grade rapidement. Les questions attendront. D\u00e9cision imm\u00e9diate : op\u00e9ration d\u2019urgence.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Au bloc, personne ne parle. Chacun sait qu\u2019il s\u2019agit d\u2019un cas hors norme. Incision. Sang. Concentration maximale. Puis vient l\u2019instant que personne n\u2019oubliera.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Oui, la masse ressemble \u00e0 un f\u0153tus. Mais ce n\u2019en est pas un.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le diagnostic tombe : un t\u00e9ratome, une tumeur extr\u00eamement rare capable de contenir diff\u00e9rents tissus \u2014 os, cheveux, fragments ressemblant \u00e0 des structures embryonnaires. Ici, elle a atteint une taille gigantesque, imitant presque une grossesse.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Le soulagement arrive, mais lentement. D\u2019abord parce que l\u2019impossible est \u00e9cart\u00e9. Ensuite, parce que la r\u00e9alit\u00e9 est tout aussi troublante.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>L\u2019intervention dure des heures. Chaque geste est pr\u00e9cis, chaque erreur potentiellement fatale. Les chirurgiens travaillent comme en \u00e9quilibre entre la science et quelque chose de difficile \u00e0 expliquer.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Quand tout se termine, le silence revient. Le soldat est en vie. Son \u00e9tat se stabilise.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mais l\u2019histoire ne s\u2019arr\u00eate pas l\u00e0.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Dans les couloirs, en r\u00e9union, entre deux gardes, tout le monde en parle.
